The Replacement That Can Play Anywhere
With a power range of 1MW to 2.0MW (up to 2,682 HP) and variable operating speeds of 12,000 rpm to 23,000 rpm, the Frame 2 has been designed to be utilized for critical pipeline, marine and offshore applications. This system provides the flexibility to turn down speed and power up to 50% of rated operating conditions (such as load and speed) while maintaining its high operating efficiencies. The Frame 2 delivers high efficiencies without compromising reliability and availability.
The Frame 2 has been through rigorous testing for over a year at DDS and at customer sites. Some examples of this testing include: over speed operation, over current operation and short circuit ride through. Throughout these tests, the Frame 2 has outperformed and exceeded all expectations. The machines’ overall performance, including all losses, has reached efficiency levels of over 97.5% from mechanical power input to electric power output. Whether used as a motor or a generator, similar efficiencies are achieved.
Currently the Frame 2 is offered with oil lubricated conventional bearings. However, magnetic bearing retrofits are currently under development for applications where maintenance shut downs are not an option or where contamination may be an issue.
With its very high power to weight and size ratio, the Frame 2 is the smallest, lightest and most efficient electric machine on the market today. These unique features, along with many other system level benefits, provide a compelling advantage for pipeline, marine and offshore platform applications over conventional electric machines.
