Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs)

Artificial lift provides a mechanism to produce fluids from a well when the natural reservoir drive is insufficient.  Rod-lift, gas lift, progressive cavity pumps, and electric submersible pumps (ESPs) are the primary lift systems utilized today, and well depth, volume, and fluid properties influence which method is appropriate.  ESPs account for the largest share of the artificial lift market.

DDS high-speed, PM motors for ESPs provide the following benefits:

  • Increase the life of the pump systems
  • Allow for smaller diameter pump systems
  • Operate at higher temperatures
  • Increase the efficiency of the pump system
  • Provide higher power density
  • Enable retractability
